Intel Mapper is an automated OSINT platform. Every marker you see went through the pipeline below — and we are transparent about confidence, sources and corrections, because credibility is the entire product.
Events are ingested continuously from vetted open sources: official military channels (e.g. General Staff reports), established OSINT accounts on X and Telegram, and state news agencies. Each source carries a standing reliability score based on its track record; low-reliability channels require corroboration before their reports gain visibility.
Each report is parsed by an AI analysis layer that extracts the event type, actors, casualties and locations. A strict relevance gate drops non-conflict noise — domestic politics, routine aid deliveries, economic announcements — so the map stays focused on military-operational events.
When we can't pin a precise point, we say so: the marker gets an amber ring and an ≈ APPROX badge instead of pretending to be exact.
An event is labeled ✓ CONFIRMED · N SOURCES only when independent channels report it — repeats of the same post never count. Each new independent source raises the event's confidence score (capped at 9.9). Single-source reports are explicitly marked ◌ SINGLE SOURCE.
| Confidence | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 8.0 – 9.9 | Multiple independent sources, or official confirmation |
| 6.0 – 7.9 | Reliable single source, consistent with known situation |
| 4.0 – 5.9 | Unverified report — treat as a signal, not a fact |
When a later report provides a more specific location, the marker moves and keeps a visible 📍 CORRECTED badge showing what changed. An automated QA agent re-audits the live map every 6 hours; wrongly placed events are fixed, and recurring error patterns become new permanent verification rules.
