Volyn Oblast, Ukraine — Drone Transit location map

What happened

Ukraine's Air Force monitoring channel, published on Telegram as @kpszsu, reported on 19 October 2026 at 02:42 UTC that a single jet-powered Shahed-type drone, identified as Geran-3, was passing east of Kolky in Volyn Oblast on a westward course. The same post described two or more similar jet-powered drones north of Berezne in Rivne Oblast, also heading west. The original Ukrainian wording refers to 'реактивний БпЛА' and 'реактивні БпЛА', meaning jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles, and does not mention impacts, casualties, or damage. The report is an air-movement notice rather than a strike report. Russia is named as the actor in the event record, consistent with attribution used for Geran-series drones.

Context and assessment

Geran-3 is the jet-powered variant of the Shahed family, faster and harder to intercept than the older piston-engined models, which is why air monitoring messages now distinguish it from earlier Shahed-type drones. This event sits within a run of transit reports across northwestern Ukraine. Earlier on 18 October, single Shahed-type drones were logged passing Tsuman and heading toward Lutsk, both in the same broad region. Within the 19 October sequence, reports from Kolky at 02:43 and Rivne at 02:44 place drones moving along a consistent westward track through Volyn and Rivne oblasts over roughly two minutes of reporting. That pattern may indicate routing toward targets in the west of Ukraine, a deliberate effort to stretch air defence coverage, or drones following a flight path without a fixed target. Transit notices alone do not establish the intended objective, and the reports are best read as early warning rather than confirmation of a planned attack on a specific site.

Sources and confidence

All of the event information comes from a single Telegram channel, @kpszsu, which is the official Ukrainian Air Force channel and is generally the first public source for airborne threat notices. No independent corroboration was recorded at the time of the report. The confidence score of 8.0 reflects the channel's official status and its routine reporting history, but it is held below the top of the scale because the record rests on one source with no secondary confirmation. Confidence would rise if later Air Force updates, regional military administrations, or independent monitoring reproduced the transit reports. It would fall if the channel corrected or retracted the notices, or if subsequent reporting contradicted the drone count or direction.

Location

The record's coordinates, 50.75 N and 25.33 E, are region-level and are assigned low location confidence. They approximate the broader Volyn Oblast area rather than the exact positions of Kolky or Berezne, so the point should not be read as a precise location. Kolky is a settlement in northeastern Volyn Oblast near the border with Rivne Oblast, and Berezne lies in northern Rivne Oblast within the Polissia lowlands. The area is flat to gently undulating, with extensive forest, wetland and marsh cover, and drainage from the Horyn and Styr river basins.
