Jet-powered Geran-3 drone reported passing Khodoriv in Lviv Oblast, heading west
What happened
Ukrainian air monitoring reported on Telegram that one Russian jet-powered Shahed, identified as a Geran-3, was passing Khodoriv in Lviv Oblast on a westward course at about 03:30 UTC on 23 October 2026. The original post, written in Ukrainian, describes a jet-type unmanned aerial vehicle in the Lviv region passing Khodoriv on a western heading. It does not report any impact, explosion, or damage at or near the town. The report comes from a single channel, @kpszsu, and the Geran-3 designation and attribution to Russia appear in the summary rather than in the original wording. The entry is therefore a transit sighting, not a confirmed strike.
Context and assessment
Khodoriv is a small town in western Ukraine, and the sighting matters less for the town itself than for what it shows about the route. Three related reports from the same night describe Geran-3 drones moving west across the region. One was tracked from Rivne Oblast toward Radekhiv at 01:40 UTC, another passed Kulykiv toward Lviv at 01:49, and a third was near Kopychyntsi in Ternopil Oblast at 03:11, also heading west. Taken together, these reports suggest a sustained corridor of tracks across several oblasts over roughly ninety minutes rather than an isolated drone. Geran-3 is the jet-powered variant of the Shahed family, generally faster and harder to intercept than the piston-engined models. Operationally, a westward track through this area could indicate routing toward targets further west, a deliberate probing or saturation pattern, or a decoy function, but none of these readings can be confirmed from transit reports alone. Air defence and interceptor activity, if any, is not described in the data.
Sources and confidence
The event rests on one Telegram channel, @kpszsu, which posts Ukrainian air monitoring updates. The post is a short tactical alert with no independent corroboration in the supplied data, so the score of 8.0 reflects a credible monitoring source with a clear track description, offset by the absence of a second channel or official confirmation. Confidence would rise if the Ukrainian Air Force or regional authorities confirmed the track, if independent monitors or open-source aggregators reported the same drone, or if the related Kulykiv, Radekhiv, and Kopychyntsi tracks were linked in official updates. It would fall if later reporting contradicted the track, identified a different aircraft type, or attributed the sighting to a different drone.
Location
The location is placed at settlement level, as the report names Khodoriv and the event is a transit reference rather than a point of impact. The coordinates, about 49.41 N and 24.31 E, correspond to the town centre, and the location confidence is recorded as high. Khodoriv sits in Lviv Oblast in western Ukraine, in hilly and river-valley terrain typical of the foothills near the Carpathians. The surrounding area is largely agricultural and dotted with small settlements, and it lies on the general approach from the north-east toward the Lviv region and western border zone.
